The Centre for the Alexander Technique

St George’s

From 2002 to 2013 we ran an optional module in the Alexander Technique for medical students at St George’s University of London (SGUL).  They came to us and participated in the Training Course for Alexander Teachers on the same basis as our own students.  Initially it was a pure Alexander Technique module assessed by written work on an Alexander topic.  Eventually the medical degree was restructured and the module came to be assessed by the carrying out of a research project.  This radically changed its shape since students had to be absent in order to attend methodology classes, collect data and complete a much more demanding write-up.   Further changes to the degree syllabus resulted in our being unable to run the module any longer.
